I can't help you with the Township but I can help on Snowball.
CPT Ben Taylor built a grist mill on Calf Creek in 1875 and the population in that area grew.About 1886 the townfolks applied for a name change from the US Postal Department. They changed from Calf Creek to Snowball (or Snow Hall if you know the full story).I assume that would be the "official" date that the town came into existence. - - - - - -
Just an interesting note.It is such a small community now but it was once a booming place. The newspaper reported that at the annual "picnic"(what we call a fair or festival) they would have around 2000 people attend. That was very surprising to me, I don't know where 2000 people would gather in that town!!
