On a recent trip to Arkansas and Sevier County, I was able to find marriage records for some of my ancestors who lived there in the 1850’s through the 1880’s.These records have given me a lot of valuable information and clues to help me with my genealogy research.
One of the marriage records reads as follows: Sevier Co. Ark. This is to certify that I, Reid Cochran, a regular ordained minister of the Gospel of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church did unite on the seventh of October Mr. Wm Foster 24 years of age and Miss Edah Brumly, aged 20 years of age this 6th day of Nov 1860.
I am interested in Minister Cochran who may lead to another family branch. I’ve tried contacting the Cumberland Presbyterian Churches in Sevier, and I’ve searched the appropriate censuses and records. But I’ve had no luck.
Could he have been a traveling minister?Does anyone have any information or clues to who he was and where he lived?
