This is probably the Thomas Goggins shown in the 1830 Laurens County, S. C. census.This family apparently moved to Mississippi, and may be the Thomas Goggins shown in Talledega County, Alabama in 1840,and it is reported that there are many descendants in Arkansas.

This is the only Goggans/Goggins family in Arkansas during the 1860 and 1870 census.They are shown in Smith County Arkansas.The 1860 census shows William Goggins, born 1832, in North Carolina (it could be read as South Carolina), and the 1870 census spells the name William Goggans, and has him born 1830 in Georgia.Both record Elizabeth as born in Georgia.

MATT GOGGANS DEADSept 20, 1928
Matt Goggans, age 64, died Thursday, Sept. 11,
at his home after an illness of two weeks' duration. He
had lived a devoted Christian life and was a member of
Bethel Baptist Church. He leaves a wife, one daughter,
Millie, and a son, Neil; two brothers, Add Goggans of near
Radway and Buck Goggans of near Redfield; and four sisters,
Mrs. Ben Dalsby and Mrs. Bill Courtney of Pine Bluff,
Mrs. Tom Dalsby of near Redfield, and Mrs. Tom Lewis of Dexter.
His remains were laid to rest in Prosperity cemetery
with funeral services conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Geo.
F. Moody, of Rison.
