Kay, I have used the library facility in Fayetteville and it is excellent. However, you get to check your briefcase at the door.Apparently too many "reseachers" have carried things out and many of the books are missing.
You will also want to visit the State Battlefield Park in Prairie Grove. It is on the site of the homestead of Rev. Andrew "Buck" Buchanan, who settled there about 1830.The Battlefield Park has a museum and several restored houses. You will find Buchanan memorabilia throughout.
You will want to visit the active Presbyterian Churches in both Cane Hill and Prairie Grove. The Cane Hill church is a brick structture that is on the National Registry. It has a large stained glass front window that is outstanding. The Prairie Grove church is a white frame building.Be sure to explore the cemetery that is next to it; you will find many Buchanan names there.
In Cane Hill, the last structure that was used for the Cane Hill College is still standing -- it is a brick structure with the bell tower mounted on the grounds out front. It may or may not be in use as a museum.
