Those of you who grew up around Fayetteville and whose ancestors had settled there earlier on....
I am trying to locate a cemetery where my 2gr gmother was buried. Her name was PHEBE (JAMES) SCOTT.She was born in IN in 1822.Her husband was Rev. Flemmon Scott.Flemmon died and was buried in Ava, Douglas Co, MO in 1884.
After Flemmon's death, Phebe moved to Washington Co, AR to live with at least one of her sons, GREENUP SCOTT.We have a letter from Greenup which states that he buried his mother there.
The last time I know of any of the family visiting her grave was in the 1950s.At that time the headstone was not in good shape....may not exist today. The relative said that the best we can recall is that the cemetery was just SE of the Fayetteville Lake. His memory may be off somewhat, but at least it gives an general area to look for cemeteries.
Does anyone recall ever seeing the name Phebe James Scott or Phebe Scott is the past.I seriously doubt that her name will be found in any of the cemetery, index books because such transcriptions were probably done after her headstone was gone or not able to have been read.
Her husband was a preacher in the Freewill Baptist Church...in MO.I know that her son moved to Van Buren in the late 1880s.
