Floyd Hughes Dies, Funeral Today at 3:30 City Marshal Responsible for Death Jailed Here On Assault Charge
Floyd E. Hughes, 40, of Aurora, died Sunday night at 7:30 from wounds inflicted by Marshal H. M. Burgess of Huntsville about 10 days ago. He had been brought to the Veterans Hospital here Friday, August 16. Funeral Services were held this afternoon at 3:30 at Aurora with Rev. J. Simpson officating and the American Legion of Huntsville in charge of burial rites. Burial was in Aurora cemetery. Mr. Hughes was born at Aurora, son of John B. Hughes of Tennessee and Rosa Jane Taffey Hughes, both now deceased. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Simmons Hughes; six children, Eugene, Eugenia, Virginia, J. B. 2nd, Floyd, Jr., and Rose Mary; three brothers Lloyd Hughes, of Tiawah, Okla., Robert Boyd Hughes of Los Angeles, Calif., and Calvin Jerome Hughes of Bellview, N.M., and one sister, Mrs. Malva Haynes of Tulsa.
