I am researching my White Co. family history and run into a big mystery.I find my great grand father, John Anderson MASSEY living in the house just south of my grandmother'shouse at 500 S Spring Street in the 1920 census. His wife is also listed. They owned and operated the boarding house at that location.
In the 1930 census of White County, I find him listedin the house with my grandparents, Arnold and Ilar HUGHES at 500 S. Spring Street, Searcy. No mention is made of his wife, so I assume she died between 1920 and 1930.He is listed as "father-in-law"on the census record. So far, so good.
Now here is where it takes a strange turn, I checked the Arkansas Death Record Index trying to determine a date of death for John Anderson MASSEY and find he died in White County on 08 AUG 1927.
Obviously he could not havedied in 1927 and be listed on the 1930 census. Were there 2 John A MASSEY's inWhite Co during this time period?Could the Death Record Index contain an error?
I have checked the White Co cemetery listing and could not find his name.
