Seeking family information regarding Amos Freeman, died on 12 January 1892 at Oakland, CA.In 1858, he arrived at Oakland from Wisconsin, having traveled west by ox-drawn wagon. He evidently mounted a successful dairy business in Oakland, whether dairy farming, production, delivery or all three, is not known. He was born probably Niagara County, NY in 1833, second son and second child of Noble and Mary Freeman, a family that ultimately comprised seven boys and two girls. In 1841, this family moved to Mukwonago, WI and it is there that Amos grew to adulthood.A news item in the Beloit (KS) Gazette 28 January 1892 edition reports his death at Oakland "suddenly on the 12th inst., of grip." (four ofhis brothers then lived at Beloit, KS).The report goes on to note, "He left a wife and one child. . ."He had apparently retired from his business in 1890. I welcome any informatiion regarding his marriage, his wife's name, his child's name and descendants, if any.I have abundant information on this entire Freeman line that begins with John Freeman's arrival in Massachusetts in 1635 aboard the Abigail down to the present day.The information I seek about Amos is one of the small holes in my compilation which I shall gladly share with interested parties.
