I have in my possession a notarized document, on plain typing paper, embossed with a notary stamp for the county of Jefferson, Texas, which reads as follows:
"THE STATE OF TEXAS, COUNTY OF JEFFERSON.
BEFORE ME, the undersigned authority, on this day personally appeared Mrs. Carrie McCray, wife of E.C. McCray, known to me, and who, being by me first duly sworn, did depose and say:
That she resides at 2325 North Street, Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, and has resided in Beaumont for nine years past; that she is the aunt of Melbourne L. Jordan, Point Richmond, California; that the said Melbourne L. Jordan was born in Bosque County, State of Texas, on the 2nd. day of August A.D. 1885.
[signed] Mrs. Carrie McCray.
SUBSCRIBED AND SWORN TO before me this the 21st. day of January A.D. 1932.
[signed] Wm. O. Bowers Jr. (the surname is difficult to read; "Bowers" seems the most likely reading) Notary Public, Jefferson County, Texas."
I will be happy to share a scanned image of this document by e-mail.
