"Otto Dahlgren Succumbs At 74
Otto Emanuel Dahlgren, 74, of 3005 North Adeline Avenue, a former president of the Iron Workers Local No. 155, died yesterday in a local hospital after a brief illness.
Union spokesmen said Dahlgren was one of the oldest members of the local and had held nearly all its offices.He was president for 15 years.He worked on a variety of projects in the San Joaquin Valley including the construction of Friant Dam.He retired seven years ago.
A native of Sweden, Dahlgren came to this country in 1892 and settled in Kingsburg.He had lived in Fresno since 1920.
During World War I, he served in France with the army of engineers.
Dahlgren is survived by his widow, Mae; two stepsons, Nelson Schoonmaker and George Shoonmaker, both of Fresno; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Turner of Ontario, San Bernardino County, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Orr's Colonial Chapel."
Fresno Bee The Republican, 13 October 1940:
"Wife of Kingsburg Mayor Succumbs
KINGSBURG (Fresno Co.), Oct. 12- Mrs. Alma Lindquist, 64, wife of Mayor K. G. Lindquist of Kingsburg, died here today after a long illness.
Mrs. Lindquist was born in Sweden.She came to Kingsburg twenty seven years ago from Oakland.
Surviving her are her husband; a son, Arnold Lindquist of Kingsburg; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Nelson, Mrs. Hazel Bonander and Mrs. Dorothy Linman, all of Kingsburg; two brothers, O. E. Dahlgren of Fresno and Gust Dahlgren of Minneapolis; a sister, Miss Anna Dahlgren of Fresno; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Ericson Mortuary here with Rev. E. H. Lindquist officiating."
