There is enough information on this family from your other postings -- / additional research. My comments **:
--The 1870 census shows my gr grandparents, Wm. A. & Anna Eliza Bailey living in Hyde Park/Calumet County (Chicago, IL area), with 2 children - a 2 year old daughter named Monti (unusual name for a female of that time period?) and a 4 month old boy un-named. Anna became a doctor in 1875, graduating from Hahnneman Medical College in Chicago.
**The census was in Hyde Park, COOK County, the spelling of the name was "Monte Baily"The census was enumerated 13 June, so "Baby" was born about January/February 1870.William, age 28, born in IL. Anna, 27 born in IL.
**The 1880 census for Hyde Park, Cook County, IL, enumerated June 18.
W.A. Bailey, 38, born in Illinois to father born in Mass, mother in TN
Anna E, 37, Physician, born in Indiana to both parents born in Ohio
Ella Baldwin, age 29, Boarder
Jesse 6/12 boarder
William Harris, 10, boarder
Mageret(as written) Servant, age 19.
--Mary had a brother who lived to at least 10 years of age, according to census
** I don't know how this boarder would be identified as her brother.
-- In 1893 Dr. Anna adopted my grandfather, who was born Robert Steinmeyer, third child (according to his birth cert.) of Louis Charles and Rosa (Malcolm) Steinmeyer, and Anna changes his name to Benjamin Franklin Bailey.--I do not know when Wm. died, but believe before 1893, when Anna adopted my nearly 7 year old grandfather, and only her name is on the adoption papers.
--I know Anna dies in 1903 but have not been able to find a death cert. for her from Chicago records or from IRAD.
*There would not be a death certificate for her in Chicago as she died in California according to your information.
--Mary (Monti) was married to a John Becker sometime before 1907, when she signs her name as witness to my grandfather's marriage
In this post:
> A newspaper article I have shows Dr. Anna Bailey at Mary Becker's home (visiting or living permanently?) at the time of Anna's death in 1903 and Dr. Anna is buried in a cemetery in Butler Creek.
---www.findagrave.com shows Dr. Anna E. Bailey, died May 23, 1903, aged 60 years (1842/1843), is buried at Sutter Creek City Cemetery, in Sutter Creek, Amador County, California.
Sutter Creek/Sutter's Creek/Suttercreek, formerly Suttersville.
--My grandfather's wedding certificate shows he was married in Beloit, WI in 1908 and Mary Becker, as a witness, was then back residing in Chicago.
I looked in Illinois Death records for Mary Becker:
Just to many, 77.
**I looked for a Butler Creek in CA, but couldn't find one.If Dr. Anna Bailey is buried in Sutters Creek, that is probably where she died, Amador County. You should resume search there.
**Your posting also indicates your Grandfather married in Beloit, WI, Mary was there, identified as residing in Chicago.Your search should resume there.
**You need to either identify the FULL date of birth of Mary, or by one means or another, get that information. For the searches of the 1900 Census, it is SOOOOO Very Important.Just to search ONLY for the month/year of birth would eliminate a good number of persons. For 1900, I'm doing a search of all "Mary", born Illinois, plus/minus 2 years of 1868.There were 183.If Mary was born in 1868, she would have been 32 in 1900.She "could" have been married to another person, but just listed as "Bailey" in the 1903 record of her mothers death.
There is a LOT of information that needs to be obtained.Posting does obtain some leads.I'd also suggest posting on Rootsweb.com, more people.I'd also suggest using the volunteers at the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness.READ THE GUIDELINES FIRST.For Amador County, CA:
