Mary Isabelle "Bell" Rascoe was a daughter of Jesse Judson Rascoe and Mary "Mollie" Jane Duncan. She was born about 1873 in Navarro County Texas. I am unsure when she died. She married Calvin Meredith Carpenter 18 December 1889 in Roswell, New Mexico. Her father, Jesse J. Rascoe, was Chief of Police in Roswell untill his retirement in the early 1900's and a deputy marshall at Seven River, New Mexico prior to that. After his retirement, most of his family moved to Bakersfield, California. Mary was Jesse oldest child. His other children were: Jesse J. Rascoe, Jr.; Charles Yates Rascoe; William Dennis Rascoe; Nancy "Nannie" Kathren Rascoe; Minnie May Rascoe; Lydia Emily Rascoe; and George Cornelius Rascoe.
Nannie was 1st married to Mac Fletcher about 1900. She then married Fred Halsey Nov. 7, 1923. Halsey was murdered and Nannie was accused as an accesory to his murder. She was tried and aquited and she moved to California.
The 1920 census is incorrect as to where Jesse J. Rascoe father was born. He was not born in Missouri but in Alabama.
