Elizabeth Gash Pierce Tiburon resident
Elizabeth Gash Pierce of Tiburon died Feb. 12 after a long illness. She was 87.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Manila, Philippines, and lived in Berkeley for more than 50 years.
She graduated in 1933 from the University of California at Berkeley, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority; Theta Sigma Phi, a national women’s journalistic honor society; and of Prytanean, an activities honor society.
She was selected as assistant promotional manager of the Daily Californian and was a junior editor of t he college annual, Blue and Gold.
She worked as a secretary and office manager for Frank P. Dow Co. in San Francisco before marrying Ransom P. Pierce in 1938.
In Berkeley, she was a volunteer at Alta Bates Hospital, a member and former co-president of The Claremont Club, and a political worker.
She enjoyed gardening, entertaining and cooking.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanna Coxhead of Tiburon, Ransom Allan Pierce of Truckee; and grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held in Berkeley.
