I am seeking further data regarding George Counts' life in Missouri, in Van Buren County, Arkansas, his repeated wagon-train excursions west, and then his life in Mariposa County, California. Various family members have copies of one diary on his first excursion to California.
Allusions to additional diaries, and a late-in-life writing by Mr. Counts have been made. So far the actual words are not to be found.
Also, I'd love to know where the gold-headed cane that he was presented came to be held. And if there are still copies of his and Malinda's funeral cards out there.
I am not looking to possess the actual objects; I am most in search of the venerable gentleman's words for a monograph I am working on regarding him and his descendants. Of course photos of relevant objects would be helpful too.
Anyone have any ideas? Copy costs, other costs, postage, etc., happily reimbursed.
