I'm researching the family of my great-great-aunt Sarah Gerrard, born in 1844, who married Jack Robley. They were from Centerville, Iowa, but sometime between 1902 and 1920, nearly the entire family migrated to California.
The probate record for one of her sons, Bayard, dated November 19, 1945, states that three of his siblings, Spencer, Winifred, and Emma, were living at 103 Robley Road, Salinas.Because Robley isn't a very common name, I wonder if it was more than just coincidence that their address has the same name they do.Can anyone tell me how I might find out when and how Robley Road was named?I'd also like to know what is now at this address.
I'm also interested in "Robley Motors", mentioned in Bayard's will, which states "I desire that the business known as Robley Motors be shared equally between my brother Richard and my wife".The probate record says that Richard was living in Watsonville and Bayard's wife was in Robles del Rio, so I don't know exactly where "Robley Motors" was located, or how long it might have existed after 1945.Has anyone heard of it, by any chance?
Thanks very much for any assistance! Marilyn Gerrard-Hartman
