Need help in trying to learn some information with regards to someone killed in Grass Valley area about 1851. I have an Illinois history that specifies that a man by the name of Stephen Thomas Julian who came from ILL came to CA and was killed by Indians. " Soon after the birth of their only child, the father started for California, attracted by the discovery of gold on the Pacific slope. With the hope that he might secure a little fortune for his family in that Eldorado of the west, he made his way over the long and perilous journey to the Western frontier and his operations met with fair success, but he was never destined to see the fulfillment of his cherished hope. In 1851, by mining in the Grass valley region, he was killed by Indians, leaving his wife and little son with little property. Some years afterward his widow remarried."
Is there any chance that a record of this incident might exist or that there might be a cemetery that holds this name? Any assistance with regards to this would be greatly appreciated.
