Tschopp, Fred, of Laguna Hills; passed away February 2, 1980. Born in Basil Switzerland, he did his undergraduate and graduate work there in horticulture and landscape architecture.He was commissioned by the governments of Australia and New Zealand to design and lay out parks in Perth, Canberra, Auckland and Rotorua.He was retired as Landscape Architect for Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, for which he did the primary landscape designs for most of the major reservoirs and the Mulholland Fountain.He helped to promote the coral tree as L.A.'s official tree.A Fellow of the Royal Horticulutural Society, Fellow of American Institute of Landscape Architects and a member of California Landscape Architects Association, he was internationally known for 50 years.He is survived by his wife, Alice, children and grandchildren. At Mr. Tschopp's request his body was willed to U.C. Irvine Medical School.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saddleback Hospital or the Heart Fund.
