I searched the Califonia Death Index for "Brown" males b. TX or MS b. 1883/1889, died 1955 or 1965 and didn't find any first name matches, Jay, Bart, Albartus, Albert, J. A., Albertus, Burt or Bert. I have not found others in the online indexs that should be so it doesn't mean there isn't one with a death certificate on file with the state.
What about the Jay A. Brown in earlier posts from the CA Death index and Social Security Death index, b. Jan 29, 1896 in TX d. Sept 15. 1969 in Riverside Co. mother's maiden name Lacey? Month and day match WWI draft card and I have seen a birth year be wrong with my own family listings before.
Riverside is one of the largest counties in the state so unless you can at least find a city he was living in then it will be hard to find an obituary. Also he may have died in Riverside County but still lived in Los Angeles County where an obit would appear. My father was vacationing in Desert Hot Springs when he hospitalized and almost died, if he had, his death would have been recorded in Riverside Co. but he would have had his obit and burial in Santa Barbara Co. where he lived.
