The 1930 Census for Carbondale, Jackson Co, IL
C.E. Gum, age 40(1879/1880), born in IL to both parents born in IL, machinist/jewelry store, first marriage age 22 (1911/1912)
Awanda(sic), age 36, born in IL to both parents born in IL, first married age 29 (7 years, about 1922/1923, so C.E. married before).
Robert H. age 6(1923/1924), born in IL.
Robert born 26 July 1923, died 3 Sep 2010 in Houston, TX.
This is the person of record, but I find no proof of identity. This persons SSN was issued in New York before 1951.I found no obituary posted in the Houston Chronicle (Legacy.com).There were no recorded documents identified.
Clarence Enoch Gum died 18 May 1948 in Salt Lake City, Davis, Utah.
--he was son of Enoch Gum and Rosella Peterson, siblings Mable, Maybelle, Elva, Clara.
The Robert C. Gum found by the other person as enlisting into the Army in World War II, is NOT the correct person. This Robert C is found in the 1930 Census in Petersburg, Menard County, IL, son of John B and Ressa W. Gum.Researchers don't post unless you've verified the information, otherwise wrong information gets posted into family trees and One World Tree... forever.
The WWII draft registration (Old Man's Draft) showed Clarence E. Gum, born Jan 17, 1890.The name and address of person who will always know your address: E. R. Gum.This does not indicate or prove that he and Wanda had separated.MANY people have someone other than their spouse in this position. While it is an indicator, it doesn't mean anything except speculation. This person could have been his father or sister.
