Jerish Benjamin Grant, 71, died May 13 of lung failure at Hemet Valley Medical Center. Inurnment will be in Riverside National Cemetery. The Cremation Society of Riverside County in Hemet is handling cremation arrangements.
Mr. Grant, who was born in Arkansas, lived in Hemet for 11 years. He was in the U. S. Army for 21 years, serving in the Vietnam and Korean wars and earning a Bronze Star. He was a marine electrician with the U. S. government for 24 years. He attended First Christian Church in Hemet. He was a Boy Scout leader with Troop 100 in Germany. He enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Lydia; three sons, John of Hemet, David of Renton, Wash. and James of Portsmouth, Va.; one daughter, Kathleen Weaver of Fontana; five grandchildren; two brothers, Hosea of Clifton, Colo. and James McNutt of Berryville, Ark.; and one sister, Mildred Maddox of Elk City, Okla.
