GEORGE EDWIN STROUSE
Born on October 31, 1916 in Sacramento, California to Jack & Viola Strouse; he was the beloved husband to Dorothy Alice Strouse of Riverside, California and the beloved father to John Edwin Strouse of Redondo Beach, California.
George and Dorothy were married on October 5, 1935 and moved to Los Angeles where George began a 43 year career in the transporation industry as a Traffic and Transport manager.George and Dorothy moved to Riverside in 1941 where George was responsible for shipment of war materials to our troops during World War II, from the Southern California Freight Lines Riverside Office.In addition to Southern California Freight lines, George worked for Republic Car Loading, Hunter Engineering Corporation and Citizens Transportation before his retirement in 1978.
George was an active member of the Riverside Optimist Club from his first days in Riverside and was involved with similar organizations that help underprivledged children.George was also a past member of the Elks Club of Riverside and the Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity.George was a part-time professor of Traffic and Transportation Management at the San Bernardino Valley College for more than twenty years.
George was a past member of the Canyon Crest Country Club where he pursued his passion for golf on a regular basis before he suffered a stroke about four years ago.George passed away at Riverside Community Hospital on July 5, 2003 following an attack of pneumonia which caused additional pulmonary disease and also congestive heart failure.He was 86 years of age.
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at 2:00 p.m., at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Chapel in Riverside, California.
