I need to find somebody with an old (1900 - 1930) City Directory and/or knowledge of the history of the Riverside San Bernardino Parks Department.
My great great grandfather, William Nathaniel JACQUES (or any variant spelling of that name) came to San Bernardino from either Missouri, Texas or Arkansas with (or met in SBD) Lula Alice HUDDLESTON.They settled in SBD around 1900 and raised three sons, Brownlow "Brownie" JACQUES b 1901 Alfred Gilbert "Freddy" b. 1904-6? and Clarence Otho b. 1909?. Family name was spelled JAQUISH, JAQUISS JAQUESS (Tennessee where he was born) JAQUESS JAQUES in Missouri where he lived with his third wife and JAQUES, JACQUES in California.
William Nathaniel JACQUES was with the San Bernardino Parks Department or the Riverside Parks Department and participated in the building of a huge park, probably Riverside park.He died around 1930-35? Last seen by our branch of the family around 1927. He is said to be buried in San bernardino county.
I am blind and cannot read original source documents anymore. I am calling on anyone who has access to directories for that period, any histories of ABD county or any knowledge of the JACQUES family to please let me know. Here are all the names of the family members:
