Hubert Tecumseh Miller a former Pomona resident and retired prospecter died May 28 at the age of 111 in Victorville, it was learned today. Mr. Miller was born December 4, 1858 in St. Joseph Missouri and had been a prospector until he was 94, working form Point Barrow Alaska to Cape Horn and in Siberia and all along the Asian coast . When he was 7, his father a Union Army Colonel, took him to meet Abraham Lincoln. When he was 105, he was living in Pomona in a rest home, and at 110 he was again doing his own cooking in a house at 1666 S White Ave. On his death he requested no funeral service. Dudley Mortuary, in Victorville, was in charge of arrangements. He had lived in Barstow and Victorville, where he had many friends from prospecting days, in recent months. He had been married and had raised five children, but did not know the location of some 100 descendants of his children, all now dead. He told in interviews that he had killed a Spanish Captain in Cuba over gold, and had taken part in the Klondike gold rush in Alaska.
