Boy was this a lucky find.I could not find him on any census record but I did find his WW1 Draft Registration card. This was signed in NC on Sept 1918 and he is not married. Unfortunately it does not list his place of birth. Now you know something about him. Will add more pieces to the puzzle.
Henry Bonner Hopkins 32 yrs old Bn 15 july 1886 Residence: 72522 or 25th street (hard to read street name) Signed: 09 sept 1918 in Washington, Beaufort Co, NC Salesman, Employment add: Chicago, ILL (could be the 'home' office location?) Nearest relative: Father, F.R. Hopkins, Elizabeth City, Kansas. (this is where a wife would be noted if he had one)
I went back to Beaufort Co, NC to check the 1920 census and he is not 'listed' there. Not to say he was not there, I just couldnt find him.My Ancestry.com only lists head of household for the 1920 census.Soooooo, if he is living with someone with the Hopkins name, he wouldnt be listed.Might want to post a 'new' query on the NC site and ask for a 1920/1930 census lookup on Winney/Winiford Winberry.
