Family tradition says my g-g-g-grandfather, Andrew Benedict, came to Stockton from CT in 1855, only to die of fever. I was recently told that a cousin had visited his grave (some years ago) and also obtained a copy of an account of his death from a microfilm copy of a newspaper. I do not know if the account was an obit or a story. I would like to find as much as can about his death. Is there a collection of cemetery surveys of San Joaquin that might be used to locate his grave? I'm open to suggestions as to the best repository to search for newspaper microfilm and what papers may have included such a story. All suggestions welcome. Jim in Nashville.
