Alice E. (Adams) Gray was born Oct. 5, 1892 in Stockton, California. She died, in Stockton, Nov. 3, 1942, at age 50, from an automobile crash. I have the obituary and burial record. Her father, Joseph Emery Adams, is said to have been living in Petaluma, California, at the time of his death. No death/burial information has been found, as yet. He may have died by 1945. He was seperated from his wife, Cynthia Gray (Hammond) Adams. She resided in Stockton. Alice Gray's grandfather, Joseph Adams (1823-1900) and Joseph E. Adams' father, came to Stockton, from Massachusetts by about 1867. Joseph Adams, the senior, owned a dairy farm on East Waterloo Road in Stockton. His widow, Alice (Pepper) Adams (1842-1928) died near Santa Rosa, Calif. Santa Rosa is near Petaluma. She is believed to have been living with her son or a relative at the time and place of her death. Another person who is buried in the Adams family plot in Stockton is Silas P. Adams, who died in Petaluma in 1907 at age of 64. Not sure if he was a brother or a cousin of Joseph Adams. Most of this information is taken from a genealogy written by Cynthia G. Adams (1869-1951). All the Adams' are buried in Stockton Rural Cemetery, except for Joseph Emery Adams. Why some of them went to Petaluma, I am not certain. As for Alice Gray have been born in Petaluma, I believe that is incorrect, as Cynthia states all her children were born in Stockton.
