I'm looking for more information on two Russian-German SEIBEL families (specifically, how were these two men related?) (Also, many descendants of Heinrich, a.k.a. Henry SEIBEL came to live in CA, especially in Lodi.)
1) Ludwig SEIBEL, 20, and wife, Charlotte, 21, came to America in 1877 on the ship, "Pommerania" with daughter, Charlotte, 11 months.
In 1900, they were found in Hutchison Co., South Dakota, with this family:
Ludwig SEIBEL, b. Dec 1856, Russia
Charlotte, b. Dec 1853, Russia
John, b. Nov 1883, SD
Louise, b. July 1885, SD
Charley, b. Apr 1889, SD
Jacob, b. Apr 1891, SD
Carrie, b. 1893, SD
Emma, b. Oct 1894, SD
Lewis, b. either Jan or Jun 1896, SD
Nettie, b. June 1900, SD.
Just four houses away was family number #2:
#2) Henry [Heinrich] SEIBEL, and wife, Katrina [REIMCHE]
Henry SEIBEL, b. July 1854, Russia
Katrina, b. Dec 1853, Russia
John, b. Apr 1876, Russia
Philip, b. Oct 1879, Russia
Leonard, b. Dec 1882, Russia
Lizzie, b. Apr 1884, Russia
Carrie, b. Mar 1885, Russia
Fred, b. May 1887, Russia
Jacob, b. 1889, Russia
Alexander, b. Mar 1891, Russia
Conrad, b. Nov 1892, Russia
George, b. Nov 1892, SD
There was also Lucy, Henry's daughter-in-law and presumably the wife of his son, John, since both were listed as married. She was born Mar 1880 in SD.
This family had come to America in 1893 on the ship "State of California."
Heinrich SEIBEL had died by 1910, but his widow, seen in the census of that year as Katherina, age 56, was found living with sons, Frederich, 23; and George, 13, in Herr, Sheridan Co., North Dakota. Living next door was [her son], Henry, 31. Her son, Philip, and his wife, Katherine, and children were found in McClusky, Sheridan Co., ND. Phillip SEIBEL and his family eventually moved to Lodi, San Joaquin, California.
Back to Family Number One, Ludwig and Charlotte were also found in McClusky, Sherman, North Dakota with their children, Emma, 15; Ludwig W., 14; and Mettie [sic], 10.
Exactly how were Ludwig and Heinrich SEIBEL related?
