The Collegeville Cemetery, San Joaquin County, California is described in the book:

"The Mariposa Road"
"... The college was the project ofthe Cumberland Presbyterian Church; when the three-story fram structure housing ... it burned in 1874, it wasnot replaced. At the corner of Mariposa and Jack ToneRoads is a remnant of the Collegeville cemetery, nolonger used but still cared for by the local Boy Scouts."
Several researchers posting on the internet state that this cemetery has been horribly vandelized and there are only 3 grave markers left. This cemetery is a heritage resource that needs preservation and protection.
Asbury Parks Black (1842-1873) a confederate veteran is buried there [my grandfather's relative] according to the book,Old Cemeteries of San Joaquin County, California, page 18.

According to the book, Yolo County, California Biographies:"Francis Lafayette Bourland""... Mr. Bourland’s second marriage occurred in Collegeville, Cal., uniting him with Miss Emily Block [Martha E. Black], who was born in Gordon county, Ga., ..."
Asbury was the brother of Eliza Jane Black Hensley wife of Fred Hensley of Woodville, Tulare County, CA. Asbury, Martha and Eliza's parents were Miss. Nancy Brown born around 1823 in NC and William Harrison Black born around 1813 in KY. Nancy's parents were Jesse Brown (1792/1793 NC to Feb 1850 GA) and Mary Powell aka Mrs. Mary Brown (~1803 NC to 1883 GA) whose mother was a Harper whose father owned land in Harpers Ferry, VA now WV during the 1700s.
I am researching these people for my father since his grandfather Joseph Parks Brown (1844-1907 GA) was an uncle of Asbury, Martha, and Eliza. I am from central Florida and just started learning information about these people, so please keep in touch with me on your new developments.
