Hzve been trying to find info on my great grandfather, Jose Federico Gonzalez.
He was living in Alvisio about 1920-21 when my grandmother Maria Luisa Gonzalez visited him from MX at the age of 16 by herself, coming from Mx to there by train.
He and his wife, Carmen de la Garza were seperated prior to that.According to her immigration papers, she came to the states through Nogales AZ in 1927 and stated on her papers she was to see her husband Jose F in San Jose.
She actually stayed in Douglas AZ instead and they tried a trial reconcilation. He had started another family in San Jose and eventually went back to them.
He may have been born in Gomez Palacio, Durango, MX around 1875 as Carmen was born in 1878.
They have been all kinds of stories about him from being a gun smuggler during the Revolution to being a Rurale.Oh yes, he was supposed to have killed a man and that was another reason for fleeing to the states.
If any of this sounds even a little familiar, I would appreciate hearing from you. I've never know the name of his second wife or their children, but would love to.
