DIDNT FIND HERS BUT THIS CAME UP Ted Austin Swan Death Date: abt 2001 Ted Austin Swan, 89, of Reno, Nevada died Thursday, April 4, at home. Ted was born on June 21, 1912, in Rome, Iowa to Otellia and Reuben Swan. He moved with his family to Weed, California when he was a child. He graduated from Weed High School and attended Santa Clara University for a short time. He married Hazel W. Lorenzen on May 5, 1935. They made their home in Mt. Shasta, California for many years where he worked for the railroad in the l940's and later owned a fuel distributorship. In 1963 they relocated to Burney, California where they owned a retail business until 1974 at which time they retired to Redding, California. While in Burney, Ted was very active in the International Order of Lions. In 1998, after the death of his wife Hazel, he relocated to live with his daughter and family in Reno, Nevada, and then later to a retirement home.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Hazel; his brother, Robert Swan of San Jose, California; and his sister, Bette Spicer of Redding, California.
Surviving are his four children: Norman W. Swan of Placitas, NM; Theodore L. Swan of Mercer Island, Wash.; Alan R. Swan of Redding, Calif.; and Carolyn S. Rais of Reno, Nev.; his ten grandchildren: Robert Swan, Kristina Meadows, Kelly Savereux, Erika Brooks, Kalen Swan, Karena Swan, Kristofer Swan, Tessa Swan, Amber Rais and Jenna Rais. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
Ted is remembered for his joy of hunting with his sons and family; for the many summers that he spent with his family at Shasta Lake; and for the many joyful family gatherings in his home. He was an astute businessman, a devoted husband and proud father.
A private family memorial service will be held in Reno, Nevada. Cremation is under the direction of Ross, Burke, and Knobel of Reno. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
