There is a lot of conflict on this family data between your information and information by other persons. There are more than one William A. Gurr.Did he divorce Minnie?Do you have her obit?Obits of her sons? The information provided in this posting is not all that you have, as other postings identify; but in this case, I didn't have time enough to read all of them in order to not duplicate work already done.
Your posting of January 2009:
>Searching for any information on a Winifred A. Capon, possibly born in Multnomah County, Oregon, who married a Weldon B. Smith, also possibly born in Multnomah County, Oregon. They were married on December 10, 1919 in Clark County, Washington. Winifred A. Capon apparently married a second time to a Mr. Gurr (I do not know his first name), but apparently Mr. Gurr adopted the child of Weldon B. Smith and Winifred A. Capon when he married her. His name was William A. (Smith) Gurr, born 1921, died 1995.<
This information somewhat matches the California Death Index:
William Albert Gurr, born 7 July 1921 in Washington, died 14 May 1995 in Shasta County, CA.Mothers maiden name Capon.
But information from others disagrees:
A family tree owned by a "glkredhat" from Colorado shows William's mother was Golden Fae Waters, born 11 Feb 1902, died 23 Oct 1953 in Seattle. She had four children, William Albert, Patricia Fay Gurr born 22 Sep 1923 in Washington, died 23 Feb 1992 in Merced, CA.Patricia married a Higgins, had one child, both shown as "living".
The father was identified as Earnest Nathan Wonch Gurr, born January 26, 1899 in Medical Lake, WA; died 24 Sep 1972 in Springfield, Lane Co, Oregon
--The 1920 census for Monroe, Snohomish Co, WA, shows Goldie Waters, single, living in the home of her father J. Harvey?Harvy Waters, age 61, with wife Cyntha, 44; and siblings: Lee, Viola, Mamie, Wilma, Ursa.
There is a picture of Golden, identified as "Gram".She married an Earnest Nathan Wonch Gurr.
"IF" this person is correct in his tree, this person appears to be related.I sent a message through the Ancestry.com system to contact you via this thread.First, this person has to log into Ancestry, then see the message.
Another sibling identified in other trees was an Irene Louise Gurr, born 5 August 1926 in Walla Walla, WA, died 28 Sep 2001 in Green City, Hickory Co, Missouri, she had married Henry Franklin Sanderson, also dying in 2001.A son Robert Ernest was born 1948, died 1952.
A family tree for Minnie Strickland shows her birth 2 Feb 1923 in Clay Hill, Maxville, Clay County, FL, marriage to Robert A. Gurr in 1942, death 10 June 1992, buried in Long Branch Cemetery, Maxville, Clay County.Spouse, Robert A. Gurr, was shown as being born 13 Dec 1947, died 8 April 1993.
--"Possibly" the person owning this tree identified a son? as being the spouse? Both persons confirmed via the Social Security Death Index, both deaths in Duval County.Marriage in 1942, Florida Marriage Index, Baker County, to Minnie Lee Strickland.
The Florida Death Index for Duval County shows a Minnie Gurr Watkins divorce from a Jessie W. Watkins in July 1969.Is this the same Minnie Gurr?
I took a look at the Shasta County Recorded Documents:
There are a LOT of documents filed for the Gurr family in the County (680), but no documents identified for William.
So, lump all of your KNOWN information together, hopefully someone else who has the family in their tree will help. The tree above, to whom I sent a contact notice, did not really satisy me as to being the correct family;BUT, I have a lot of questions about what happened to the William Albert AFTER being married in Florida.
