Is any one related to the Ferrel/Ferril Brother's of pioneer Shasta County? I know that there are other spelling's of Ferrel in Shasta County such as Farrell and Farrel. I am looking for one or two spellings which are Ferrel and Ferril. The two brothers arrived in Shasta County sometime between 1852-1854. The names of the brothers are Merriman and Henry. Merriman and Henry were supposebly born in Maine or could have been born in Keokuk, Iowa. There sister Melinda Ferrel/Ferril Johnson Tuggle is my direct line but the two brothers arrived in Shasta County before she did. Merriman worked for John W. Dinsmore and helped build the Dry Mill and the Four Mile Stopping House. Merriman's brother Henry married John W. Dinsmore's daughter Angelina/Angeline Dinsmore and had I believe three children. They stayed in Shasta County and sometime before 1880 Merriman went back to Keokuk, Iowa to live. He never married. Their sister Melinda Ferrel/Ferril Johnson Tuggle came with husband William Harvey Tuggle in 1862 possibly to visit the two brothers who she have not seen since child hood. Henry and Melinda and there families stayed in Shasta County.
I would like to know more on the Ferrel/Ferril brothers. The reason the surname is spelled two different ways is because on Henry marriage license it is spelled as Ferril with an I and it is even spelled that way in the Recorders Office on the computer's in the Shasta County Court House. Angelina's name also appears as Angeline on the marriage license.
