I thought I should mention that I've also been looking into the NAHER family for you.According to census records, Emilie had two brothers, Adolph and Gustavus (or Augustus or Gus).I would highly suggest that you try to obtain the book, "History of the state of California and biographical record of San Joaquin County - Vol. II", By James Miller Guinn & George H. Tinkham. In it is a biography on Adolph. Please see the webpage below:
I tend to concentrate on California genealogy, with particular interest to the San Joaquin and Tulare County area.Although I do not own a copy of this particular book, I do own a book written by George Tinkman in 1923 on San Joaquin County also entitled "History of San Joaquin County, California".Adolph is briefly mentioned in that book in reference to the Centennial Celebration of 1876 (page 218). It says "The third division was in charge of Fingal Hinds, John Kafitz and A. F. Naher, with a drum corps in which two Continentals played the fife and drum."I would have to assume that the first book written by Mr. Tinkman in 1909 has much more information on Adolph Naher. The California Death Index lists that Adolph died in San Joaquin County on 26 October 1907.
Emilie's other brother, Gus Naher was recorded in the following censuses:
1900 California, Fresno County, 1 Ward 3 Township, Page 310 1910 Washington, King County, 3 Ward Seattle, Page 188 1920 California, Los Angeles County, Los Angeles, Page 63
Gus's widow, Grettie (as in one census) was recorded in the following:
1930 Washington, King County, Seattle, Page 17A
Grettie is in the Social Security Death Index as being born 25 April 1973 and that she died in April 1968.Her last residence was Seattle.
Gus and an Grettie had one son, Thomas Alfred Naher.According to the Washington Death Index (yes, I have access to some records for that state too!), Thomas died in Seattle on 19 December 1954.Grettie's specific death date was given as 22 April 1968 in Seattle.
It's fairly easy for me to research rare name, but I hope I didn't take any of your fun away by doing so.
