Following is a transcript of an obituary from the Vallejo Times-Herald, dated 23 Dec 1951:
"LAST RITES SET FOR MELLIE COATS
Mrs. Mellie Coats, 61, of 1509 Sacramento street, died in a Vallejo hospital yesterday fol- lowing an extended illness.She had been a resident of Vallejo for 20 years.
Mrs. Coats, who was a native of Nebraska, was a member of Myrtle Rebekah Lodge No. 15, IOOF, and Ioka Council No. 30, Daughters of Pocahontas.she also was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist.
She is survived by her hus- band, Hubert; a daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Waterburg, and a son, Frank Soderlun, of Berkeley, and a sister, Mrs. Maud Young of Napa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Chisholm and Dickey Funeral Chapel and they will be con- ducted by Ioka Council and a Christian Scientist reader.Inter- ment will follow in Sunrise Me- morial Cemetery.
Nell Ireland and Victoria Lit- chenstein, officials of the Myrtle Rebekah Lodge No. 15, have re- quested all officers and members of the lodge to attend the serv- ices for Mrs. Coats.They were asked ot [sic] appear at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m."
