CHETOPA – Services for Ernest Banzet of Bartlett, who died Sunday, December 2, 1973, in the Labette County Medical Center in Parsons following a short illness, will be held here Wednesday.
The rites are scheduled at 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Home in Chetopa with the Rev. Merie Balcom officiating. Burial will be in the North Edna Cemetery.
Banzet, 75, was a lifelong resident of the Bartlett-Edna area. He was retired and had been self-employed in several businesses, including blacksmithing and merchandising.
He was born on July 15, 1898, in Craig County, Okla., a son of Frank and Nora Banzet.
He and Pearl Dewey of Edna were married on Aug. 18, 1918, in Independence. She survives in Parsons.
Banzet is also survived by three daughters, Mrs. Geneva Kaskins of Trenton, Neb., Mrs. Geri Casey of Sepulveda, Calif., and Mrs. Erma Roeser of Parsons; seven sons, Raymond of Renton, Wash., Dallas of Bartlett, Denzil of Parsons, Marvin of Erie, Vernal of Joplin, Ernest Jr. of Burbank, Calif. and Albert of Parsons; six brothers, Albert of Chetopa, Mart of Reseda, Calif., Dick of Bartlett, Emmett of Oswego, Fred of Bartlett and Donald of Tulsa; for sisters, Mrs. Alma Dewey of Coffeyville, Mrs. Minnie McCorkle of Joplin, Marie Collins of Miami, Okla. and Eva Dunham of Oswego; 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Two sons, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
