SUICIDE -- P.L. MILNER, a citizen of California since 1849, and a wealthy and leading merchant of Red Bluff, committed suicide on Monday, 13th inst., by shooting himself with a pistol, the ball entering the left breast. When discovered, his shirt and vest were still on fire from the effects of the powder from the pistol, and MINER [spelled 2 ways] in a dying condition, though he spoke several times afterwards and acknowledged that it was his own act; said that he wished to died, and only regretted that his death had not been instantaneous. He was an Elector on the Bell and Everett ticket at the late Presidential election; was a man universally and of correct habits. He was engaged to be married to a young lady of San Francisco some time during the ensuing 3 months.
