Laura Smith, Lou Robbins, Josephine Shackelton, Mary Henry and Lizzie A. Mller , organized in November, 1873, the "Young Ladies' Relief Society" for the purpose of establishing a home for the homeless and destitute, and also to give temporary relirf in instances of sickness, accident, misfortune or death. On October 28, 1874, "The Ladies Relief Society of Denver" was incorporated by Miss Anna E Figg, Alice M Nichols, Mrs. Sara j Vosburgh, Miss Lizzie A miller, Miss Lutie L Lemon, Mis Emily P Belden, Mres Ruthe Hurd and Mrs.Ione Theresa Hanna.
Wesnesday in November, 1874 Miss Anna E Figg was elected President; Miss Lizzies A Miller, vice President; Miss Mary Henry, Cecretary; and Miss Jennie E Dowing , Treasure.In addition to this organizatiion there was an Advisory board consisting of Mrs. John Eveans, W.J. Barker, D.D. Belden, J.Q. Charles, Henry Crow, John R Hanna, E.B. Kountze, W.H.J. Nichols and R.E. Whitsitt.
