Hartford Courant Oct 19, 1910; page 15 TERRYVILLE WOMAN IS BURNED TO DEATH (Special To The Courant) Terryville, Oct 18 While wiping her cook stove with a cloth this morning Mrs William Turnbull of Meadow street sustained burns that resulted in her death a few hours later. Among those who went to her assistance were Mrs Foley and Mrs Taylor, the latter a cousin. When they reached her she was lying in the roadway enveloped in a mass of flames. Blankets were hastily wrapped about her and the flames were smothered. She was horribly burned, nothing but the feet being untouched by the fierce heat of the burning clothing. She died at St Francis's Hospital, Hartford, this afternoon at 5:55 o'clock. She was the daughter of John Wood. She had been keeping house for her father and had come from Spennymoore, Durham County, England less than a year ago. She was 24 years of age. Her oldest child is a lad of 3 years. There is another child of 2 years. She also leaves a husband, William Turnbull, an employee of the Eagle Lock shop.
