James T.(Travis)Thomen who married first Florence Lightbown, and second Grace Saxton was the son of Orange Ordell and Bertha May (Travis)Thomen.Orange (my grandfather), or "Dell," was the son of Abraham Keller and Hannah Maria (Montgomery)Thomen. Abraham - the son of Martin (Jr.)and Susanna Eve (Keller)Thomen.Martin - the son of Martin (Sr.)and Verena (Furler)Thomen. Martin and Verena (or Frena)emigrated from Arisdorf, Baselland, Switzerland. They arrived in Philadelphia on June 22, 1803, and settled first in Ephrata, PA.By 1806 they had removed to Walnut Township, Fairfield County near Baltimore, OH. Our surname was originally spelled Thommen and was often spelled Thomen with a line (em dash) over the "m," thereby doubling the consonant, as was the common practice. By the mid 1830's the doubling of the "m" was completely dropped. I have more names and dates and would glad to share with anyone interested. Please contact me directly via e-mail.
