A Ship-Painter Drowned--Bernard White, an old ship-painter, was drowned yesterday morning by stepping overboard from Numsen's Wharf, back of Federal Hill. He was about to step on a schooner, which he was to paint, but made a misstep and fell into the water. His body was shortly after recovered, and every effort made to resuscitate him, but without avail. The body was taken home, 57 Cross Street. He was 63 years old, and leaves a wife and six children, the youngest nine months old. No inquest.
James Dugan was arrested by watchman Lawton, on the charge of beating and assaulting Bernard White. Justice Morrison committed him to jail in default of security to answer in court.

Mrs. Mary F. Burns. Mrs Mary F Burns, 64 years old, 50? East Fort Avenue, died yesterday afternoon following a stroke of apoplexy at the home of her son Sergt. William A. White of the Northeastern District who lives at 829 Light St. Mrs. Burns was born at Snow Hill, Worcester County, and came to this city about 60 years ago. She married twice. Her first husband was Barney White and her second Thomas F. Burns, both of whom are dead.
Surviving are 5 sons and one daughter- William A, Samuel J, Barney, Albert and Walter Burns and Mrs. Mary F. Hampton.
