Hi Dennis,Hey, thanks a bunch. Thats an informative doc.
I am a professional mariner by trade...mostly in Alaskan fishing. Quite a few of my ancestors 4 & 5 generations back were seafarers of one sort or another out of Little Creek DE. I don't discount your thoughts on 'Hobson & Collins' being the builders but, I'm thinking it may be possible that they were majority shareholders in the vessel I am looking for. That may be why they were named? But, the yr '1871' would certainly jive with the correct time period. My info show/states? that my 2nd GGrandfather had his Bro-in-law build the boat"Mary E. Hobson" Quote: "In Little Creek he had Hiram build him a schooner, the Mary E Hobson, named for the wife of a member of the firm, Hobson & Collins which owned a half interest in the boat"
Again, Thanks for the doc. it will help repeatedly I believe. I'm new to this but am warming to the search..lol & I'll keep digging.I appreciate your time responding..
