I have a copy of a Quaker marriage in New Castle, DE in 1746 of a Susanna Hill and a William Whiteside. Witnessed to this documentare members of the families of Hill, Hogg, Garrettson and Canby. Others were White, Lovett, Warner, Davis, Blake, Meers Woodcock, Lewisand Lowden. There are a couple others whose names I can't make out. This document came from the Quaker Archives at Swarthmore. I searched there because of seeing that a Irish Quaker community was active in New Castle from about 1730 to 1750. I managed to trace William and Susanna from New Castle to a farm in Mill Creek Hundred. I assume that Sussana died and William re-married a Hannah Miller (Quaker)of the Kennett Square Meeting. He later appears as a Capt. William Whiteside under a Col. Hannum during the Revolutionary War after his farm at New Britain is burned by the British on their way to Philadelphia.
