Does anyone have any info on John Pierce who was born abt. 1796 in DE.He married Rebecca Long before 1828.They had two daughters Hannah A.(1828-1920) and Sarah Elizabeth(1836-1920).John and Rebecca lived on Shelpot Creek near Allmond Mill in Brandywine Hdr. at the time of John's death in 1844.This would be in current day Carrcroft.I can't fine any trace of either John or Rebecca after his death other than the fact that they were buried in Newark Union Cemetery. His daughter Hannah became the housekeeper of David Beeson, a position she held for most of her life (she was meantioned in his will, but not as a relative).Hannah is also buried in Newark Union Cemetery.Sarah became the ward of Curtis Grubb of Brandywine Hdr. although there is no indication that she ever lived with him.She probably remained in the area as she attended Shelpot School.Sarah's Paper trail picks up again in 1856 when she marries William Bardsley of Philadelpia.I have hit a brick wall on John and Rebecca despite the fact that there were numerous Pierces in Brandywine Hdr. at the time.Does anyone have a Pierce connection with a John born about this time? I have found that Peirce is used interchangably with Pierce.
