New Info:I received the wills of William and Jesse Mumford the other day.Jesse married Elizabeth Fosque and his will contains a list of his children and Elizabeth who received monies from his estate.William Mumford was a surprise. He apparently had no living children at the time of his death and he leaves his worldly possesions to his nephew Edward C. Dingle (could this be Dr. Dingle?).Dingle later turned the management of the will over to Waples. In any case, William had purchased land in Indiana as it is mentioned in the will--and there is a record dated 1839 in Indiana.I found both William and Isaac Mumford in the 1840 census in Indiana.William's will was written in July of 1843 in Sussex Co. DE so they apparently came back to Delaware. This would explain why I couldn't find either Isaac or William in the Sussex Co. De census for 1840.
I need to get ahold of Orphan Court records for Delaware next...does anyone have any info on Orphan Court Records circa 1821????Perhaps since Robert was a child he wasn't mentioned in John's will and his older brother Samuel took guardianship. In 1850 Robert had a sizeable estate and had married Eleanor Hopkins within a year of the census.
