I will write to my aunt and uncle to see if they know more. My aunt is the eldest child - maybe she can remember more relatives than my father does. My father graduated from Little Rock High School - around 2000 in his graduating class. Nancy Hicks I believe was his mother's name. She died of TB. He mentioned the family name was spelled Mahan up until the last generation or two. Story was his grandfather's sister was a busybody, kept getting his mail and reading it so he changed the name to Mayhan to prevent the mail from going to her! Just starting to look into family history myself. Good luck in your search! Keep in touch... Sharon
"the journey is the destination"
just starting some research into my family tree. My father Chris Mayhan was born near Little Rock in 1939. His mother died when he was 14 of TB. His father was Christopher Mayhan- died in 1965. We were told he was 1/2 Cherokee. Due to alcoholism in the family, much history was lost. My aunt Elizabeth lives in Missouri, as does my uncle Lihue. Randy died many years ago, as did the youngest brother James. I would guess they are somehow related to your Bernice. I am guessing my grandfather's family. I would love to learn more. Sharon
