He apparently moved shortly after the marriage of son George in 1844- to Florida. He is shown dying in Wacahoota, Alacnua, Fl and estate probated in Ocalla, Marion, Ga.-which probably had county line connections at one time. (Both were one)
George had 3 known sons born in Ocalla, Marion, Fl. Where he moved-as did Irby Roberts. Irby is found in the 1850 Census as an overseer on a plantation. George is not found, but his son's Civil War Papers-and death notice-place him there, as do later estate papers of Jesse.
Jesse Wilmot-son of George & MCV was born 12 Jan 1845-as per Bible record- Ocalla, Marion, Fl.
Simeon Halvenston was born 5 Oct 1847-Ocalla-as per CSA papers show. He was a very young teen guard at Andersonville.
Joshua Cannon was born 24 Mar 1848 Ocalla-as later census records show.
James Irby was born 1 Feb 1850-census records-show Ga-but this may not be a fact. (As estate papers show) _________________________________ 1844- Jesse is still in Meriwether for the marriage of dtr. Matilda-but by Dec. 1 1848=he had died- (Making his move positively between Jul 1844- and Dec 1848----and in 1849 Jan 16-Elizabeth was petitioning the court on Probation of the will of Jesse-to be administrator of the estate, instead of Irby. This was later settled and Irby probated the estate-
Feb. 7-1849-the Inventory of the estate proceeded. It was valued at $3340.40 (Provisions were set aside for Mrs. Roberts)(Later shown as $3392.90 w/items added Mar 7 1849- hiring of and selling of slaves-etc. Total $6084.82) _______________________ In 1849 also- Augustus sued and won-for a slave in his Father's estate-that was actually his---------

0589 (Accession #2058909) Marion County Florida. Augustus Roberts, a resident of Georgia, request that a subpoena be issued to Irby Roberts, administratorof the estate ofJesse Roberts. Augustus Roberts seeks possession of, and claims ownership of, a slave included in the inventory of the estate of Jesse Roberts. Augustus states that when his father purchasedthe slave woman Unity, he refused to purchase her son, Tom. Therefore the plaintiff purchased the boy, allowing him to remain with his mother in the possession of the deceased, “on account of its tender age.” He charges that the defendant knows that Tom is not a part ofthe estate of the deceased and ask that the slave be returned to him. _______________________________________________
Paid out $3656.56-leaving Bal. $2454.26 on that date.
The widow got $1124.30 for Dower and A. R. Roberts (Augustus) got $500 for the verdict of his suit on slave.(Giving the above total paid out-plus other items)
Feb 20 1849-the sale of the inventory-went forward- Page 1- $2454.26Page 2 $1748.60($3637.56) Page 11-the sale of perishable property- #48.66 1/2 Totaled with page 12-$365.42 Page 13 $61.00 more Page 15-paid out $40.00 Page 16- Dower=paid to widow itemized- $1124.30 signed by Elizabeth
If this is the usual 1/3 of the estate-we can double that figure and add it up as total available to others.
Wiley A, George, William Thornton and J F were paid $240 Each- Total $960.00Leaving app. $2,412.90 or probably about 4 more-plus expenses, administrative expenses etc?
