I am looking for any descendants or information on Bennet Whiddon and wife Mary Jane Daugherty. They had four children: William Mathew Whiddon 1851-1935, Laura Jane Whiddon 1857-1932, Joe E. Whiddon 1865-1932,and Cynthia Whiddon born 1855. Bennet Whiddon shows up in the 1860 census of Jackson County and is believed to have moved to the area of Washington County which is now Bay County by 1870.
William Mathew Whiddon married Lula Morris before 1884. They had sons Walter B. Whiddon 1884-1944 and John Whiddon born abt. 1885. Walter B. Whiddon was at one time the Sheriff of Levy County. William Mathew married his second wife Maggie Cale in Lafayette County on May 1, 1885. They had William Bennett Whiddon 1889-1968, Frank Whiddon 1893-1968, George Whiddon 1901-1981, Charlie Whiddon 1905-1973, Bertha Whiddon Emaneul 1905-1928, Lula Whiddon Martinez 1910-1975, and Alice Whiddon Davis 1894-1967.
Laura Jane Whiddon married a Norwegian man named Astan E. Dybdal. They show up with daughter Jessie Smith in the 1920 census of Millville in Bay County. Other children may have been Astan E. Dybdal(married Mary J. Strange), Thomas Jefferson Dybdal(married Sallie Gainer), Eliza J. Dybdal(married Jack Parker), Nora Pauline Dybdal (married Louis Patrick Johnson). The other children are pure speculation. Jessie Smith had a son named Dallas Smith.
Joe E. Whiddon did not have any children.
Cynthia Whiddon is believed to have married a man named Everett in Jackson County, but this is once again pure speculation and not proven. The last mention I have found of Cynthia is in the 1860 census of Jackson County.
Can anyone help me with this family. I have a lot of information on the William Mathew Whiddon group of the family and some information on the others. I am very interested in contacting other interested parties about this family.
