I just reviewed the Gulf County Genealogical Society's web site and 3 highlighted African-American cemeteries in search of my uncle to no avail.
I think there's another African-American cemetery in Wewahitchka that your group didn't capture and would appreciate your assistance, referrals and/or leads with any and all information that you can share with me.
My uncle's name is Mims Forester (unfortunately, his death certificate erroneously lists his name as Mims Foster). He died at home (728 N. Bonita Ave., Panama City, FL) on December 28, 1966 and was 73 (February 2, 1883) at the time of his death. According to his death certificate, he was buried on January 1, 1967 at the Wewahitchka Colored Cemetery in Wewahitchka, FL and George T. Washington, Jr. is listed as the funeral director.
1. Are you familiar with another African-American cemetery that's referred to as the WCC? 2. Can you tell me the name of an African-American funeral home based in Panama City, FL during the late 1960's and buried folk in Wewahitchka during that time?
Thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.
