Janet,
We can pretty much confirm that the Cherokee were never in Jennings. The Indians that were here were Seminole who came from Creek, and a mixture of several other nations as well as runaway slaves. The pictures of the trading post are re-constructed. The reason that they did not remain was probably due to the facts that the Cherokee were not here. There are pottey finds that I believe have been analyzed but I do not have the research in front of me. The Miccusukee were village dwellers so the pottery suggests that this may be of there tribe. Pottery shards have been found in Jasper, and White Springs. The Micco Town is near Jennings. The county therefopre had Indians throughout.
