Hi, I appreciate and respect the fact that a researcher wants to post only factual information with documented proof. That's how it should be!
It is really easy to get overwhelmed with all the info. that's out there on the internet and sometimes we end up going with the easiest info. we find...so we all just have to be careful and take our time.
I've noticed that it's been stated that George Washington Mayo,Sr. born about 1824 (s/o Afred Mayo and Catherine Youngblood) was married three times, but in what order?
1850 Holmes Co.Fl-Div.3 census: George 26, Emily 17, Elizabeth 2, Elly Ann 1
*So does this mean that Emily was his first wife and does anyone know her maiden name?
1860 Holmes Co.Fl-Cerregorda P.O census: George W. 36, Atline 25, Elizabeth 12, Elsey Ann 10, Pherraby 8, Elijah F. 6, Caroline 5, Thomas 1.
*Now this would make us think that Atline age 25 is his second wife?
However, I am confused about something and maybe some-one can clear this up for me?
If you will look at the 1850 Holmes Co.Fl census, you will see that Alfred F. Mayo born about 1827 (s/o of Alfred F. Mayo and Catherine Youngblood)is listed on the census in household #174 age 23 with his wife Adeline 16/Al and no children. And then on the 1860 Holmes Co.Fl census she is listed as his wife.
I found a Atline Mayo listed on the 1860 Holmes Co.Fl Mortality Schedule list with this info. Atline Mayo, b: 1835 d: Aug. 1860 (age 25) cause of death: childbed fever.
So, is this the same Elizabeth "Adeline-Atline" Cumby?
And if so, then would I assume that she remarried after the possible death of her first husband Alfred F. Mayo to his brother George W.Mayo and then she died not long after that marriage and then he remarries to Elizabeth Callahan about 1870? Does anyone know when Alfred F. Mayo died?
I am also wondering about Elizabeth Mayo (d/o George W. Mayo,Sr. and Emily Unknown. Did Elizabeth marry a Norris man as reported and does anyone have any information concerning him?
